Description

 This American officer's eagle pommel sword dates to the first third of 19th c., and was an early product of the famous Ames company. Blade is 28.5" long, profusely etched in military and patriotic American motifs, which survive in wonderful untouched state. There is some darkening of the point, but no pitting. The open-beaked eagle hilt as well as the scabbard mounts were japanned. The sword is tight, with no play.
