Description

This interesting American officer's saber dates to the first decades of the 19th century. Bone grip is decorated in a then popular cross-checking, separated by the duck foot patterns. Hilt now is now a bit wobbly. Blade is 29" long, nicely blued and gilded when new, now showing nicks along the cutting edge. Blue and gild are prominent still, with a good amount of luster. Blade is marked with a letter K in an oval. The eagle is etched, with 15 stars and vignettes. Scabbard has lost its locket and tip, leather has dried and shrunk.
