US M1852 NAVAL OFFICER'S SWORD WWI PERIOD

This beautifully-made US Naval officer's sword dates to the early 20th century. Blade is marked with retailer's name - S.APPEL & CO, NEW YORK.

Solomon Appel started off in the officer supply business in the 1880s, and by the early 1900s his company had closed.

Blade is 30" long, nicely decorated and in flawless condition, as is the rest of the sword. Accompanying the sword is the original sword knot, which is in frail condition.
