Description

This scarce Sheble & Fisher M1840 HCS is in estate-fresh condition, and the exposed metal has acquired a beautiful dark patina. Grip leather dried out, and the remnants of the leather are flaking off the grip, which has split. The sword is very sold, with no looseness. All of the original grip wire is intact. Blade is in wonderful condition, retains most of its factory polish, with some minor spotting, and has not been sharpened. Blade is 35 5/8" long, 1 1/4" wide and is maker-marked. Scabbard has a nice long Philadelphia-style drag. Guard is stamped on the bottom with a small R near the knuckle-guard.

A wonderful Civil War cavalry saber, fresh from a New England home.
