This Nathan Starr Model 1818 cavalry saber is stamp-dated 1821 on the knuckle bow. Blade is marked by the maker on the obverse ricasso, and bears the appropriate inspection and proof marks, including the initials LS, which belonged to the armory sub-inspector Luther Sage. The blade is the standard 32.5", with a nice uniform patina, with no rust or corrosion. Scabbard retains its original japanning, and has a small split along the seam at the throat. Sword is very tight, and the leather on the grip is original and supple.
