This beautiful 17th c. Polish hussar's armor is a Victorian period, late 1800s to the 1900s, an homage to the original armors. It measures 60 cm. in length, including the zischagge, cuirass and the right tasset. The armor is a good rendition of the period pieces, with riveted plates, leather ties, completely articulated, with the Polish Cross studded brass decorations to the front. This is an estate piece, and metal has superficial surface rust, a result of lack of proper conservation over the years, rust should clean up quite nicely.
Henryk Sienkiewicz's historical novels were read by all of Europe in the late 1800s, and the interest in all things Polish no doubt spawned the creation of this wonderful miniature. Properly conserved and mounted, it will display quite nicely.
