PHILIPPINE LUZON PIRATE BATANGAS FALCHION 1800s

This enigmatic sword is of the scarce variety of Batangas falchions from Luzon province in the North of the Philippines.

Entirely iron-mounted, the hilt has a horn grip. Massive blade is of pattern-welded steel, 64 cm long, widening to a falchion foible, which is 5 cm at its widest point. Blade is crudely engraved with some characters and a zoomorphic creature.
