This very large, long out of print book is a very important photographic reference for the collectors of European edged weapons. 800 high quality photographs of Italian or related weapons from the best of world's museums are represented here, dating from the Middle Ages to the late 18th century. Weapons are juxtaposed in context of their contemporary paintings and sculptural references. This 1975 title from the Bramante Editrice art publishing house was part of a limited run, this copy being numbered 825, printed for the Mamoli Robinetterie. Another variant of this book, with a section describing the particulars of every piece photographed was available in another edition, the one offered here being largely a photographic reference. Both editions have the same photographs.
Quattro, condition is very good, solid binding, with minor shelf wear. 29 pages of text, photographic pages are unnumbered; I estimate there are about 250 or more pages of photographs. Enclosed in mylar cover.
