HOLSTER FOR A FLINTLOCK SADDLE PISTOL, POSS.BRITISH

$0.00

Description

This large saddle holster at one time housed a pistol of significant proportions. Length of the holster is 37 cm. Flap is trimmed with gold lace. A gilded button in the shape of a Rose is attached to the bottom front of the flap, which might point towards the British origin.

Dating this piece precisely is difficult for me, but I would presume 1750-1800 would be the correct date range.

Leather is dry and needs to be rehabilitated, flap has come loose in one area.
It's a wonderful accoutrement from the flintlock period, and would display very nicely, after an expert conservation.
