This German Imperial Hesse infantry officer's Model 1854 sword is mounted with a 88 cm long blade, which is profusely decorated with military trophies, classical motifs and the Hessian coat of arms - Lion Rampant. Blade is in excellent condition. There is some light play to the hilt. The leather-wrapped grip is in excellent condition, with some leather shrinkage. Scabbard has lost about half of its plating. Overall, an excellent and scarce Hessian World War I sword.
