Description

This French officer's small-sword dates to the last decade of 18th century, the Directory or Consular Period. Silver-plated brass hilt is surmounted with a Phrygian bonnet pommel. Tri-fold 75 cm long blade is decorated in engraved ormolu floral and talismanic symbols. There is is an ever so slight play to the guard, and the grip wrap is not as tight, due to the wood shrinkage over time. Overall a beautiful French Revolutionary Wars period sword.
