This rather scarce French GLAIVE D'OFFICIER DE LA GUARDE NATIONALE dates ca.1830, and was manufactured during the reign of Louis-Philippe, the last King of the French.
Hefty 49 cm long blade has acquired a wonderful dark patina, and has two small gouges. Hilt has also aged gracefully, and is adorned with Louis- Philippe's symbol - the French rooster. July Monarchy lasted from 1830 till 1848, when the King abdicated, and left France for England.
