Description
This French light cavalry officer's sword dates ca 1790-1800. Brass hilt is of a familiar French style. 82 cm-long blade has acquired a nice patina. Blade has a 21 cm-long false edge. The sword is hefty, weighing 756 grams. This type of "a la bataille" swords were carried by French Cavalerie Legere and Hussar officers in the late 18th-early 19th centuries.
