Description
This European walloon-hilted trooper's broadsword is mounted with a rhomboid 82 cm long unmarked blade. Sword is 98 cm long overall. Dating to the second half of the 17th c., the sword is sturdy, with no looseness. Wooden grip retains its blackened steel wire wrap, and is missing a small segment of wood at the shell. Some old dried up oil still covers the pommel and upper arms of the hilt. The sword is well-balanced and lively. Military swords of this type were widely used in the Western European countries, from Sweden to Spain.
