This hefty hunting sword dates towards the last third of the 18th century. 57 cm-long double-edged cut and thrust blade has acquired a nice patina, and has been cleaned in the past. Hilt is in fine shape, with only very minor movement.
This type of weapon was used not only to deliver the coup de gras to a bear or a boar, but also preferred by the gentlemen taking trips into the country, and by the military officers, as a personal weapon. Naval officers were especially fond of well-made sturdy hunting swords, such as this one.
