Description
This is an interesting Crimean War period British 1821 pattern cavalry officer's sword. 35"-long pipe-back blade terminates in a very long quill point, with remnants of etching still visible, including "Warranted" and the Royal Cipher GR or VR. Back of the scabbard is marked -

Front of the scabbard is marked -

, indicating that the scabbard belonged to a heavy cavalry 1821 pattern sword issued to the 2nd Dragoon Guards (Queen's Bays).

The fit of the sword in the scabbard is very good, the patina on both is corresponding, indicating a long-time marriage. Perhaps an officer picked up a trooper's scabbard after losing his own.
