This naval officer's or midshipman's dirk dates to the early decades of the 19th century. Blade is 23 cm long, etched on both sides in floral and coral motifs for more than half its length. The furniture of the hilt as well as the scabbard is sterling silver. The grip is of scrolled ivory, now nicely toned. The quillons are in the shape of acorns. The scabbard is engraved with palmettes and branches. The cross-guard is a bit loose.
