Description
This unusual Eagle pommel sword dates is mounted with a small-sword 28" blade, which was tinned to prevent rusting, a feature I've encountered on blades of the pre-nickel plating era. The open beaked eagle pommel exhibits a great deal of fine detail. Pommel and grip were cast in one piece. Remnants of gold wash are present in the recesses of the hilt. Crossguard terminates in two acorn-shaped quillons. It's a strange hilt, and  could be an old marriage of parts. A museum or private collection inventory tag is attached to the grip.
