This weeping eagle pommel American infantry officer's saber dates to the early 19th c., and is probably of English manufacture. Hilt retains traces of silver-plate, bone grip has an age shrinkage fracture on the back. Hilt is tight. Blade is 30.5" long, with gilt decorations, a liberty cap, American flag, drums, florals, etc. Blade shows mild superficial staining, but no putting. Scabbard shoe has broken off with the leather tip of the scabbard. This is a nice, honest early infantry officer's sword dating to the War of 1812.
