Description

This Venetian schiavona broadsword is 86 cm long overall, with a 72 cm blade, which is stamped with the "eyelashes" mark, attributing it to a Brescian bladesmith. Both the blade and the hilt have acquired a nice rich patina. The basket hilt is loose, which is a characteristic of the construction of these swords, and the bow is attached to the cat's head pommel with wire. Remnants of leather covering are still clinging to the wooden grip; leather was stabilized with adhesive. A couple of the rear branches of the basket are missing, as is often seen on these hilts.
