US NON-REGULATION SWORD BY BANNERMAN ca.1870-1890

This sword appears identical to the sword discussed by Harold Crouch in his HISTORIC AMERICAN SWORDS, p.48. It sports a 34" blade and a heavy, cast brass hilt, with floral decorations on the guard and pommel, and a cast faux ray skin grip. Obverse recess is stamped with a letter C.

Blade is clean and retains pretty much all of its factory polish, with minor superficial dark spotting. Sword dates to the post-Civil War period of 1870 to 1890, and possibly procured by the founder of the Bannerman family. There is no scabbard.
