AMERICAN OFFICERS EAGLE POMMEL SWORD BY A FRENCH MAKER, CA.1800

$0.00

Description
This very early 19th c. French-made sword for an American officer bears a heavy, 32" blade, and is nicely engraved on both sides with American symbols, and a phrase HONOUR AND MY COUNTRY. The hilt is oversized, 7" long, with a checkered wooden grip. Interestingly, the back of the grip had been period-filed to make it more comfortable for the swordsman. There is minor looseness to the hilt, A beautiful, very early Federal Period American officer's sword of rarely-seen French Napoleonic style!
