Description

This American artillery officer's sword by Horstmann & Sons dates ca.1835. The hilt  is the same as on the sword number 102 in H.L.Peterson, aside from the different grips. Blade is 74cm / 29" long. Etched blade decorations are beautiful. Cannon and cannonballs are depicted on one of the grips. Back of the scabbard shows a break midway, which doesn't extend to the front. There is some minor looseness to the hilt. This is a seldom seen hilt on the American officer's sword from that period.
