ART DECO CARRON COMPANY STEAMSHIP DECORATION ca.1925

$0.00

Description
This is a beautiful object from the age of luxury steamship travel. The four panels represent nereid Amphitrite with her trident,  along with Doris , Thetis and Neptune riding the dolphins. Four birds between the panels are depictions of Phoenix, a cever reflection of  the crest of the Carron Company.

Casting is quite detailed and crisp. Gilding is largely intact. Patina is beautiful. Object measures 19cm/7.5" in diameter.

This piece possibly functioned in a cover for heat or ventilation duct, or had another function in a luxury cabin in a Carron Steamship Line ship. Based on the subject matter, composition and form I would date this to the  first third of the 20th century, modeled in a very nicely-executed Art Deco manner.
