GERMAN PRUSSIAN 1889 CAVALRY SWORD - 22nd DRAGOON REGIMENT

This beautifully etched Prussian cavalry model 1889 sword dates ca.1900. A very attractive feature is the presence of matching regimental numbers on the quillon and the scabbard - 22.D.3.98, which, in my opinion, stands for the 22nd Dragoon Regiment, 3rd Company, Weapon Number 98.
Blade is 84 cm long, and finely triple etched in military motifs. Blade was period-arsenal sharpened for battle. The decoration of the blade is all intact, with no losses, and no signs of cleaning. Blade was rather difficult to photograph, due to its mirror-bright shine.
Based on the etched blade and the folding guard it is obvious that this was a senior Non-Commissioned Officer's weapon.
