According to the previous owner, this bayonet was in the infamous Colt Factory Fire in February, 1864. And it does look it - the muzzle eyelet is twisted, blade broke in two halves, being in the intense heat of the fire, but they fused back together. Remnants of brick and mortar have firmly adhered to the metal. It's pretty amazing! ID tag from Will Hoffeld's collection is attached to the guard.
It's an impressive piece, which displays beautifully.
