This nicely-hilted Spanish Modelo 1862 Artillery Officer's Sword dates ca.1900-1930, prior to the Spanish Republic. The grip is wrapped in ray-skin, and has some natural wear, some of the wrap wire is missing. Hilt is a little loose, but nothing tragic. The guard decoration is what makes this sword. It is quite attractive and the overall style, with the crossed cannons is quite reminiscent of the early to mid-18th century fashion. It is very retro-looking, if I may. Behind the cannons is the Sun with burst sun rays, a symbol of the Spanish Kings, and a large crown - Coruna Real. The blade has a nice even patina, and hes never been sharpened. The tip of the blade was intentionaly left blunt, and never made into a point. Blade is 73 cm-long. It's a rather scarce Spanish military sword that has probably seen a lot of action, along with its owner.
