This European iron-hilted small-sword dates to the first third of 18th century. Plain iron hilt in very good shape, with functional pas de ane. Pear-shaped pommel is quite elegant; the cross-bow enters the pommel via a japanned brass vase-shaped terminus. 72 cm-long blade is of interesting shape, starting off as oval, and about 15 cm from the guard becoming hexagonal down to the very point. Remnants of decoration are present at the ricasso. Both the hilt and the blade have acquired a nice even patina, and a peppered by shallow pitting, which is especially evident on the blade. The grip lost its wrap a long time ago. The sword is very tight together, with no play at all. Areas of japanning are still present in protected areas of the hilt.
