This is a wonderful early 18th c. sword. Fantastic balance, feels just right on the hand. Blade is 86 cm long, sword is 103 cm long overall. The sword has acquired a beautiful dark plum patina, one petal is long gone front of basket, one from back, a frequently-seen sight on these swords. The blade retains its arsenal sharpening, and is marked on both sides with marca di mosca, the bladesmith's marks in shape of moths, a telling sing of A North Pyrenean craftsman.
The brass pommel disdplayes the most Venetian symbol - the Lion of St.Mark, done in high relief.
A great sword!
