This American officer's eagle pommel sword dates to the first third of 19th c., and was an early product of the famous Ames company. Blade is 28.5" long, profusely etched in military and patriotic American motifs, which survive in wonderful untouched state. There is some milt darkening of the point, but no pitting. The open-beaked eagle hilt as well as the scabbard mount carry most of the period japanning. The sword is tight, with no play. An excellent early American officer's sword!
