This weeping eagle pommel American infantry officer's saber dates to the early 19th c., and is probably of English manufacture. Hilt retains traces of silver-plate, bone grip has an age shrinkage fracture line on the back. Hilt is tight.
Blade is 30.5" long, with engraved, gold filled decorations, liberty cap, American flag, drums, florals, etc. Blade shows mild superficial staining, but no putting. Scabbard shoe has broken off with the leather tip of the scabbard.
