This very early 19th c. French-made sword for an American officer bears a heavy, 32" blade of fighting quality, and is nicely engraved on both sides with American symbols, and a phrase HONOUR AND MY COUNTRY. The hilt is massive, 7" long, with a large ebony grip which has been period fitted on the back for a more comfortable better grasp.
There is some movement to the hilt, in no small part due to age shrinkage of the grip material. A beautiful very early Federal Period American officer's sword of uncommonly-seen style!
