This very good American or English-made silver-hilted small-sword dates ca.1750, and is mounted with a sturdy and wide 72 cm. colichemarde/hollow-ground tri-foil blade of fighting quality. Blade retains vestiges of engraved decorations, and has acquired an uniform dark patina. The hilt is decorated en suite, with recurring hatched vertical lines. There are no silversmith's marks or English silver standard marks, which would point to the American Colonial manufacture. A beautiful sword from the French and Indian War period!
