This Spanish-hilted saber is a recent composite of the late 18th c. hilt, with a newly-wrapped leather grip, repaired transverse guard and an Italian style blade that is 88 cm long, by Wester & Co., dating to the mid-1800s. Blade is nicely engraved in military motifs on both sides, and is maker-marked. The foible is double-fullered on both sides, and period-sharpened for battle, just the distal-most 18 cm of it, which to me indicates a particular fencing style.
Brass hilt is massive, with a double cup guard; quillon is missing, the transverse branch is a repair.
A decent composite of period parts for a novice collector on a budget.
