This US M1840 NCO scabbard measures about 3l.5" in length, inside of throat is a little over an inch wide. It should comfortably contain the standard size NCO blade.
Inspector's mark T.K.L is struck on the scabbard drag. According to John Thillmann, these initials belonged to an armory sub-inspector active in 1863-1864.
Brass mounts have acquired a beautiful uniform patina, leather is quite good and supple, with signs of graceful aging.
Ames-made NCO swords in particular have been seen with scabbards marked T.K.L.
