FRENCH NAPOLEONIC PREMIER EMPIRE SUPERIOR OFFICER'S SWORD
Available in the following categories:
EDGED WEAPONS
This wonderful French Napoleonic general officer's sword dates ca.1800-1810, and features a cast and hand chased guard decorated with a pair of Pegasi carrying Victory in a chariot. Victory is holding a palm branch, symbol of conquest. Pommel is decorated with crowns of laurels, another symbol of military triumph.
Spadroon-style blade is 82 cm/33" long, engraved with gold-filled military trophies and flowers. Blade is maker-marked ICB on the obverse ricasso, a monogram of the brothers Johannn and Clemens Boegel, Solingen blade-smiths active in the late 18th-early 19th centuries. Blade is straight and true, and has acquired a nice uniform patina.
